The Importance of a Good Tractor Control Valve

Nov 20,2022

Having a good trailer control valve is very important. It helps protect your tractor from damage and ensures that it operates safely and efficiently. It is also important to ensure that it is maintained properly.

PP-1 push-pull valve
PP-1 push-pull trailer control valve, is a pressure-sensitive, safety-rated device used to control parking and emergency brakes. Typically, it is mounted on the dash board. The device can be manually operated in either of the two positions, though the automatic feature is more convenient. The device is also a boon for drivers and maintenance personnel alike, as it allows for the tiniest of tweaks to be made in the event of a mishap.

The device also comes with a long-lasting acoustic-insulated body and internal valve housing. The acoustic design keeps airborne noise at bay, and ensures the valve is always in operation. The PP-1 also comes with a slew of features, including a micro-controller and an electronic control unit, which provide a smoother, more efficient flow of air.

SR-2 service brake priority valve
SR-2 service brake priority valve for trailer control valve is designed to isolate a failure in a trailer service reservoir and prevents trailer spring brakes from being released if the reservoir is unable to maintain air pressure. It also features an integral pressure protection valve that allows the reservoir to be filled up to 80 PSI. The valve also has a built-in control port that prevents the spring brakes from compounding when air is withdrawn from the valve. It also has a relay feature that drastically reduces release time.

The SR-2 service brake priority valve for trailer controls spring brakes during parking, emergency, and breakaway situations. It can be used on trailers with dual air brake systems and provides modulated spring brake application. It also comes with safety caps. The valve also has a relay feature that fills the reservoir and spring chambers simultaneously, dramatically reducing release times.

QR1C air valve
Probably the best known of all quick release valves is the QRV, which is also one of the oldest designs around. The QRV is a metal body device with an internal diaphragm and a quick release lever. It has a max differential pressure of about one psi. The QRV's predecessor the QRV is a die cast metal version. The QRV's big brother is the QRN2, which is a nonmetal version.

The QRV is also the most expensive quick release valve on the market, but it is a dual function device that has a number of advantages. It can reduce air pressure and speed up the exhaust from air chambers. It also features a "Double Check Valve" that prevents simultaneous application of the spring brakes. The QRV's other benefits include being able to deliver within one psi of the control pressure and being mounted close to the air chambers.

TR-3 parks the dolly
Using a TR-3 trailer control valve, you can now park the dolly without locking up the wheels or putting your brakes to work. It also enables you to keep an eye on the road while relocating your dolly with the push of a button. This little machine also has a slew of other tricks up its sleeve. You can also use the device to control air in the rear trailer of your truck. It is a smart device to have in your arsenal, especially when you have a truckload of cargo.

The TR-3 trailer control valve is the top dog of the lot, but it is not the only one in the category. There are several other examples, some of which are on display at the Bendix booth at the NADA show this year. The TR-3 inverts the control signal to the rear trailer, which prevents your wheels from locking up.

Tractor protection valve controls may not operate automatically
Basically, the tractor protection valve is part of a tractor protection system that keeps the tractor's air supply from leaking. It is also used to prevent total loss of air from the tractor if it breaks away from the towing vehicle. It is usually mounted on the tractor cab or chassis and controlled by a trailer air supply control valve located in the cab of the towing vehicle.

The valve mechanism is controlled by a novel construction that allows the valve to operate according to variations in the source of the fluid pressure. This arrangement will not interfere with normal operation of the brake system.

The valve mechanism will shut off air to the tractor when the air pressure in the tractor reaches 20 to 45 psi. This occurs when the trailer's emergency brakes are applied or the tractor air supply cutoff is activated.
