What is the correct installation method of brake chamber

Nov 25,2024

In the field of automobile maintenance and repair, the installation of the brake chamber is of vital importance. As a core component of the brake system, the brake pump is not only responsible for transmitting and regulating the braking force, but its correct installation is directly related to the vehicle's braking performance and driving safety. Therefore, ensuring the accurate installation of the brake pump is an important responsibility of every automotive repair professional.

Preparation
Before installing the brake pump, be sure to make adequate preparations. This includes preparing the necessary tools, such as Allen wrenches, screwdrivers, and torque wrenches. At the same time, ensure that the working environment is clean and dry to prevent impurities from entering the brake system. The vehicle should be parked in a safe location and the tires should be removed for subsequent operations.

Removing the old brake pump
Location and removal
First, locate and remove the old brake pump. This process involves loosening and removing the bolts and pipes connected to the brake pump. During the operation, be careful to avoid damaging the surrounding components and pipes.
Cleaning and inspection
After the removal is completed, the installation location of the brake pump should be thoroughly cleaned to remove dirt and oil stains. At the same time, check other key components of the brake system, such as the brake disc and brake pads, to ensure that they are in good condition to maintain the reliability of the overall brake system.

Install the new brake pump
Install the seal and piston
Apply an appropriate amount of grease to the mounting hole of the brake pump, and then install the inner and outer seals. Next, accurately install the piston into the brake pump and press it to the bottom by hand to ensure the correct installation of the seal and piston.
Assemble the dust cover and shock absorber sleeve
Install the dust cover and shock absorber sleeve on the piston in sequence, and add two elastic gaskets. The installation of these components helps protect the brake pump from dust and vibration and ensures its long-term stable operation.
Fix the sliding pin
Tighten the sliding pin with 5mm and 6mm Allen wrenches, then install the short sliding pin and tighten it with a 12mm wrench. Ensure the fixity of the sliding pin to avoid loosening during use.
Assemble the pump body and bracket
Assemble the corresponding holes of the bracket and the pump body to ensure a tight fit between the bracket and the pump body. Then, install the brake pads in order, insert the pin shaft and tighten it.
Put on the dust cover
After the brake pump is installed, put on the dust cover and fix it with cardboard in preparation for loading. The function of the dust cover is to prevent dust and moisture from entering the brake pump and keep it in good working condition.

Testing and debugging
Install the tire
After the brake pump is installed, reinstall the tire back to its original position and tighten the tire bolts with appropriate tools. Make sure the tire is firmly installed to avoid the risk of falling off or leaking during use.
Braking test
After starting the vehicle, perform multiple braking tests to check the working condition of the brake pump. Observe the reaction time, braking effect and abnormal noise of the braking system. If necessary, make corresponding adjustments and corrections.
Check the brake fluid
During the installation process, if the brake fluid is discharged or added, be sure to use brake fluid that meets the vehicle requirements. At the same time, check whether there is air in the brake system. If air is found, it is necessary to vent the air to ensure the normal operation and safety of the brake system.
